Course Summary

This course introduces users to six primary areas of trade compliance that are addressed in a typical company under the primary U.S. trade control regulations, including the EAR, the ITAR, and sanctions and embargoes administered by OFAC. Training provides users with an understanding of how employees are impacted by and can affect trade compliance within their organization. The course can be personalized using the CE Curator to present company-specific procedures and policies and is designed as an introduction to Content Enablers' Level II courses on each primary compliance area.

Users will receive a certificate of completion from George Mason University upon successful completion of this course.

Learning Objectives

The broadest objective of this course is to enable users to recognize trade-related situations and know how to react in each situation to remain compliant with trade regulations. This objective is satisfied when they can:

  • Understand that trade compliance is a company-wide endeavor;
  • Identify activities that could give rise to trade compliance considerations;
  • Remember that different regulatory requirements apply to trade-related activities;
  • Understand the scope, focus, and intent of U.S. regulations; and
  • Know that trade controls are based on many variables, including end use, end user, and country of destination.
